Effective Date: 09/01/2025
The Safety Shield is Unaffiliate’s proprietary trust and risk-management program. It provides contingent protection for eligible Hosts and Guests, funded by subscription tiers and Trust & Safety Fees. This Policy explains how the program works, its coverage limits, exclusions, and conditions.
This Policy is incorporated into the Terms & Conditions and applies to all users.
The Safety Shield is designed to:
Protect Hosts against certain property damage and liability claims.
Provide Guests with confidence when booking verified spaces.
Support Freelancers providing on-site services with supplemental protection.
Reduce disputes and improve trust in the Platform.
Safety Shield is not a substitute for insurance. Hosts must still maintain valid Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance with a Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming Unaffiliate as Additional Insured.
Hosts: Coverage applies only to Elite Hosts or Enterprise clients with active subscriptions and valid COIs on file.
Guests: Covered while occupying an eligible Host property or participating in a covered booking.
Freelancers: Covered for professional liability only when services are booked directly through Unaffiliate.
Listings without valid COIs are excluded.
Safety Shield provides contingent coverage up to:
$1,000,000 per occurrence for third-party bodily injury or property damage.
$100,000 per occurrence for property damage caused by Guests or Freelancers.
Coverage only applies to eligible Elite Hosts or Enterprise accounts with valid COI.
Unless displayed on a listing or subscription page, Safety Shield does not apply.
The following are not covered:
Intentional acts, criminal conduct, or gross negligence.
Use of weapons, explosives, pyrotechnics, or fireworks.
Alcohol-related incidents without proper liquor license.
Events exceeding occupancy or safety limits.
Loss of income, reputational damage, or indirect damages.
Bookings made outside the Platform.
Report: User must file a claim within 72 hours of incident.
Documentation: Submit evidence (photos, police reports, receipts).
Review: Unaffiliate investigates and may coordinate with insurance partners.
Decision: Approved claims paid out within 30 days, subject to deductible and limits.
Failure to provide timely or sufficient evidence may result in denial.
Safety Shield is funded by:
A portion of Elite Host subscription fees.
A portion of the Trust & Safety Fee collected on all bookings.
Safety Shield payouts do not affect Host payouts directly but repeated claims may impact Host eligibility.
Hosts must maintain valid COI at all times.
Expired COIs = automatic pause of listings and cancellation of pending bookings (classified as Host cancellations).
Safety Shield coverage is contingent upon valid COI compliance.
Hosts remain primarily responsible for maintaining insurance, licenses, and compliance with local laws.
Safety Shield is supplemental and does not waive or replace Host obligations.
Disputes over Safety Shield claims are subject to the arbitration and jurisdiction rules in the Terms & Conditions.
This Policy is incorporated into the Terms & Conditions and survives account suspension or termination.
