Effective Date: 08/30/2024
This Licensing, Permits & Compliance Policy (“Policy”) explains the responsibilities of Hosts, Guests, and Freelancers to comply with applicable laws, permits, and regulatory requirements. It is incorporated into the Terms & Conditions and applies to all Users of the Platform.
Unaffiliate provides a platform for booking properties, events, and services.
Unaffiliate is not a party to local permit or license applications and does not guarantee compliance.
Each User is responsible for understanding and obtaining all permits, licenses, and approvals required by law for their use of the Platform.
Hosts are required to:
Maintain valid business licenses or permits if renting properties for commercial use.
Comply with zoning, occupancy, fire safety, and health code regulations.
Secure event-specific permits when required (e.g., alcohol service, amplified sound, outdoor events).
Maintain and update a valid Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming Unaffiliate as Additional Insured.
Disclose listing restrictions (capacity limits, quiet hours, prohibited uses) in the property description.
Guests are required to:
Follow all host-provided rules and municipal regulations.
Obtain required permits for special event activities (e.g., large gatherings, weddings, film shoots).
Comply with liquor licensing laws if serving or consuming alcohol beyond personal use.
Respect occupancy and fire safety limits established by Hosts and law.
Freelancers are required to:
Hold valid trade, occupational, or professional licenses where required by law (e.g., security guards, bartenders, childcare providers, contractors).
Provide copies of licenses or certifications upon request.
Maintain insurance appropriate to their services, in addition to Safety Shield supplemental coverage.
While requirements vary by jurisdiction, Users should expect permits or licenses to be required for:
Weddings / Gatherings: Event permits, noise permits, liability coverage.
Corporate Events: Occupancy, insurance, and possibly business-use permits.
Concerts / Large Performances: Special event permits, amplified sound permits, fire marshal approval.
Alcohol-Served Events: Liquor license (temporary or permanent).
Outdoor / Street Events: Public space use permits and municipal approval.
Hosts and Guests are encouraged to consult local city permitting offices before hosting events.
Users must comply with federal, state, and local requirements.
In the U.S., this includes but is not limited to:
IRS reporting for rental or business income.
ADA accessibility requirements where applicable.
OSHA compliance for on-site labor or construction.
In the EU/UK, VAT, GDPR, and local business licensing requirements apply.
Listings with expired COIs are automatically paused until updated.
Unaffiliate may suspend or terminate accounts for repeated failure to provide valid licensing or permits.
Guests who host events without required permits may have bookings canceled without refund.
Users remain solely responsible for fines, penalties, or enforcement actions arising from non-compliance.
Unaffiliate disclaims liability for regulatory actions against Hosts, Guests, or Freelancers.
Disputes are subject to the arbitration and jurisdiction provisions in the Terms & Conditions.
If any part of this Policy is deemed unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain valid. This Policy is incorporated into the Terms & Conditions and survives account suspension or termination.
