Smooth arrivals and departures make the difference between a good stay and a great one. This guide walks you through everything you need to know—from gaining entry to leaving the space exactly as you found it.

Take a quick photo of the space upon arrival (especially anything pre-existing wear or tear) so you’re covered if there’s ever a question about condition. Keep all required documents and agreements readily accessible.


Check-In

  1. Arrival Window
    • Confirm your allowed check-in time (e.g. 3:00 PM–8:00 PM) in your Booking Confirmation email or My Reservations. Late arrivals may incur fees or require extra coordination.
  2. Access Instructions
    • Locate entry details in your 48-hour Pre-Arrival Reminder. This may include:
      • Smart-lock code or key-box PIN
      • Door code, swipe-card, or gate entry instructions
      • Host’s phone number for live assistance
  3. Parking & Entry
    • Follow any parking guidance (e.g., assigned spot, street permit) exactly. Unauthorized parking can generate local fines or towing.
  4. Greetings & Orientation
    • Once inside, review the Welcome Folder (digital or physical) listing Wi-Fi credentials, house rules, emergency exits, and host contact.
  5. Initial Inspection
    • Walk through each room, noting any damage or missing items. Report concerns via Messages or your host’s preferred contact method within 2 hours of arrival.

Check-Out

  1. Departure Time
    • Respect the stated check-out time (commonly 11:00 AM). Late departures may trigger additional charges.
  2. Tidy-Up Tasks
    • Strip beds of linens (leave in a laundry basket or on the bedframe).
    • Dispose of all trash in designated bins.
    • Load (but don’t run) the dishwasher or return used dishes to the sink.
    • Return any moved furniture to its original position.
  3. Key Return
    • Follow the host’s instructions:
      • Leave keys in the lockbox
      • Drop them in the mailbox
      • Hand them to a neighbor or host representative
  4. Final Walk-Through
    • Do a once-over to ensure you haven’t left personal items behind. Check charging cables, toiletries, and pockets.
  5. Lock & Leave
    • Verify doors and windows are locked. Activate any keypad or smart-lock per instructions.
  6. Review & Feedback
    • Submit your review within 48 hours. Hosts appreciate detailed feedback on check-in/out clarity.

Troubleshooting Suggestions

  • I can’t get the door code to work
    • Confirm you’re entering the latest code (it may have been updated). If it still fails, refresh your email for an updated message or call the host’s emergency number.
  • I arrived early but need to store luggage
    • Politely message your host via Messages; some offer early-drop privileges when possible.
  • I accidentally took a key
    • Notify your host immediately. They may arrange a replacement or waive any lost-key fee if promptly returned.
  • I left something behind—what do I do?
    • Contact your host with a description and photo. Arrange a postage-paid return or local pickup at owner’s discretion.
